Mapping folders is one of the key features in the Group Policy still used in organisations. If you have moved to SharePoint online from your file server and need to find a way to map the SharePoint library to the users’ then this is the solution. The only prerequisite is that you need to be using Endpoint Manager (Intune) to manage your desktops/laptops as this quick guide is intended for the devices managed through Endpoint Manager. 

Create the configuration profile in Endpoint Manager

  • Go to Device —> Configuration Profiles —> Create a Profile
  • Select your OS platform as Win 10 and later and Profile as ‘Administrative Template’
  • Provide a Name for the policy and a description that you makes your life easier when you/anyone needs to figure out what this profile is all about without editing the properties and taking time to understand what this is policy is all about. 
  • Under ‘computer configuration’ search for the ‘team site’ and you should see the ‘Configure team site libraries to sync automatically’ policy as shown below.
  • Enable the policy – you have to provide a Name and Value of the Library in the policy
  • Copy the Value from SharePoint by going opening the SharePoint URL and Syncing the library – the pop window has the ID so do not press close without copying.
